A tremendous nearby hotel is Winthrop Motel. Lakes? Sure, Fellows Pond is close by. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Egypt Pond. Summer night lows plunge down to the 50's. All through the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 20's; overnight lows in the 0's for Egypt Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Very pretty scenery and great skiing is what you get at Titcomb, and the Appalachian National Scenic Trail offers hiking at its best. A good site to camp

| | here at Egypt Pond is Five Seasons Campground, and if you come at the right time of year, Sandy River offers some nice whitewater. Don't you try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a glorious time here at Egypt Pond. There are some great whitewater spots on Wilson Stream, and you'll probably meet some folks from Augusta-Waterville here. Not far from Egypt Pond, you'll stumble on Parker Pond which is a wonderful lake, and the vista of Knowles Hill is striking. This | |

lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at East Livermore Campgrounds while you're here at Egypt Pond, and if you need a site to stay Comfort Inn & Suites is a wonderful choice. The high level of precipitation makes Egypt Pond a pretty wet spot; during November this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February.

Eaton Mountain
 | 26 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
