Sandy River is a glorious whitewater spot close to Echo Lake, and Oak Hill can be seen from Echo Lake. Echo Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; November is the wettest month with most rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. The warmest time of the year at Echo Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. All through the winter highs are usually in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Echo Lake temperatures

a night or two; the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Titcomb. Camping at Five Seasons Campground is always a brilliant experience, and while you're here, you could also stop at pretty Echo Lake.

Eaton Mountain
 | 28 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
