On a pretty day you can go to Hunters Beach close to Eagle Lake, and Breakneck Brook is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting. Acadia National Park is a fine local destination here at Eagle Lake, and Gilmore Meadow is right here at Eagle Lake. The warmest time of the year at Eagle Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and the night is fairly chillier of course, generally in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are mostly in
the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Eagle Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Highbrook Motel; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Union River.
If you go for the outdoors, you'll love Eagle Lake. Go for a hike on the McFarland Hill Trail; you get a good vista of Brewer Mountain from here. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Eagle Lake without first checking out The Bluffs, and Somes Sound View Campground

is a good campground nearby. Eagle Lake gets a great deal of water; November is the wettest month with most rain, and August on the other hand is the driest.
Lamoine Beach is near Eagle Lake and is a pretty beach to go to, and there's whitewater on Branch Lake Stream for all you adrenaline rush seekers. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Conners Nubble Trail is always a glorious adventure, and lakes are such serene sites, why not take a look at Beaver Ponds.
This is no place for people who don’t like to have fun. If you need a place to stay Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort BAR HARBOR (ACADIA NATL PK) is a pleasant choice, and if you came for an overnight stay Bar Harbor Campground is a splendid spot to camp. An interesting thing to stop at in close proximity to Eagle Lake is Eagle Lake Dam; you'll find a stunning lake called Eagle Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A visit to close by Canoe Point is very relaxing, and close by you stumble on the North Ridge Trail which is a splendid hiking trail.

Conners Nubble Trail
My wife and I and our two children (including son Conor, of course) hiked up Connor's Nubble in August, 2008.  The Acadia National Park Brochure/Map identifies this little mountain as ''Connor's Nubble'' while the trail sign itself goes with ''Conner's Nubble.''  We hiked up Connor's Nubble from the south, off of the carriage road/bike trail that runs south along the west side of Eagle Lake.  The hiking trail itself from the south approach is short, on the order of 1/3 mile.  It's pretty steep, but not too challenging given its brevity.  Once on top, the hiker is rewarded with sweeping views in all directions.  The view of Eagle Lake is terrific, as is the gander at Cadillac Mountain.  This is a very rewarding hike for such a short trail, and combined with a bike ride circumnavigating Eagle Lake, it makes for a terrific 3-hour jaunt....

Somes Sound View Campground
Tent Sites, RV Hookups, Pets OK, Fires OK, Store, Nearby Grocery, Pool...Located on Mount Desert Island, Somes Sound View Campground is an idyllic, peaceful retreat on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. A small, intimate property, SSVC is known for attracting friendly, nature-loving campers, who appreciate pitching their tent next to the ocean, surrounded by gorgeous woods, and enjoying everything Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park have to offer visitors. Visit www.ssvc.info to see all that Somes Sound View Campground has to offer your family....

Sargent Mountain Trail
...tree where the carriage road intersects the North Ridge Trail, I made the 0. 7 mile hike to the top of Sargent in about 45 minutes. The trail is moderately steep, ascending from 780 feet at the carriage road to the 1,373-foot summit in 7/10 of a mile. This trail is fairly open, offering great views to the north and northeast for nearly the entire duration. Views of Aunt Betty Pond and Bar Harbor itself presented themselves for almost the entire 45 minutes. At about 5/10 of a mile the trail leveled off temporarily on a large, open ridge, giving me a much needed breather before the final 0. 15 mile push to the top.

On top, Ithe hiker will discover a very large, wide open rocky summit with commanding views in all directions. To date, this is the best view I've had in Acadia National Park. The vista over Bar Harbor is remarkable, with the group of the four Porcupine Islands being promiment. The northern portion of Eagle Lake also presents itself nicely, as does the northern reaches of Somes Sound amd the Atantic Ocean to the north. The great bulks of Cadillac Mountain and Pemetic ...

Blackwoods Campground
I have been camping there for 20 years, and it is the best campground I have ever seen. Everything is wonderful, and the bugs aren't even that bad....

Beech Mountain West Ridge Trail
...r this brief 50-yard descent, it's all uphill, and steep to boot. The hiker is rewarded with views towards Long pond below to the west and Mansell Mountain beyond as he/she ascends. The views tend to get better as you go higher (imagine that?), although the trail alternates between wooded and fairly open rock, meaning that the good views are sporadic.

After 6/10 of a mile you'll come to a trail intersection. The Beach Mountain Loop trail heads left (north) towards the parking area off of Beech Hill Road. You'll want to go to the right/straight, where you can make the final 1/10 of a mile push to the summit of Beech.

The last 1/10 of a mile is pretty easy going, compared to the ascent to this point. With about 100 yards to go you'll come across a small structure on your right that looks to be the former privy for the occupants of the fire tower on top of the mountain. The fire tower on top, incidentally, is abandoned and barred to entry, but you can still climb up one level to get even better views. And it only makes sense that a mountain with a fire tower on top is goin...

White Birches Campground
We went there in September, but, it seemed like an ideal, quiet place for hikers who may want to get off the beaten track on a very commercial island. The showers were clean, the sites were clean and it was not the most expensive. Forewarned, the shuttle bus doesn't go there, price to pay for remoteness....
