If you like lakes and you're in this part of Maine you can check out Dutton Pond. Going for a hike on the Eagle Lake Trail is always a good adventure; naturally Warm Brook flows through this vicinity. So many entertaining things to do at Dutton Pond, so little time. Near Dutton Pond you hit upon the Old Gold Mine Trail which is a good hiking trail, and whitewater paddling is great on Union River - West Branch. This lake is so wonderful. Get dripping wet paddling

This lake is so wonderful. Morrison Pond Mountain can be seen from Dutton Pond. The high level of rainfall makes Dutton Pond a relatively wet place; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Pond Campground is a magnificent local campground.
There is a splendid hiking trail near Dutton Pond called the Peaked Mountain Trail; a wonderful lake like Giles Pond is a glorious spot to stop at. At Dutton Pond during the warm
days of summer highs are in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are generally in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Dutton Pond temperatures plunge to the
0's. Eastbrook Campground is a great campground nearby; if you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Ellsworth is a brilliant choice.
