Take a hike on the Albany Notch Trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Crooked River. Summertime highs at Duck Pond frequently tend to be in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's; night lows in the-10's for Duck Pond. So much amusing stuff to do in the White Mountains, not enough time. Duck Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Papoose Pond Camping Resort is a great local

| | campground, and Duck Pond is right by the Albany Mountain Trail. If you like the outdoors, you'll like Duck Pond. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Shawnee Peak is next to Duck Pond; a fine nearby hotel is The Bethel Inn Resort. This lake is so wonderful. A great spot to camp here at Duck Pond is Bear Mountain Village, and if you've had enough of Duck Pond, Stearns Pond is close by. There's no way someone can get bored here in the White Mountains. is a peak you can spot from Duck Pond; if you need a place to stay Pleasant Mountain Inn is a delightful choice. The Albany Brook Trail offers hiking at its best; Duck Pond is not the only spot nearby, Black Pond is a nearby lake.
This lake is so wonderful. The skiing at Mount Abram is magnificent. Duck Pond is a good spot of common rainfall; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is February. This lake is one of the great places here in the White Mountains.

 | 14 miles away My sister and I put in just below eddes falls this summer and kayaked all the way to sebago lake. Nice trip....My friend Dan and I ran part of this section last summer. Instead of putting in at Scribner's Mill, we launched from Edes Falls, just above the Rapids. It was a good inroduction to whitewater. Dan flipped within the first five minutes, but being that the water is relatively shallow, he did little more than get wet on a hot summers day. The Route 302 bridge is a logical pull out spot. There is a large mass of debris blocking passage of the river there. The only tricky part is that the walls of the riverband are steep and slippery, so it helps to have someone with you for the portage.... |
