It's always fun to stop by Downing Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Catskin Heath is an out of the ordinary swamp near Downing Pond; if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Lead Mountain Trail. The The Anvil Trail is a nice hiking trail in the neighborhood of Downing Pond, and Catskin Mountain can be seen from Downing Pond. The warmest time of the year at Downing Pond comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and throughout the night it cools

| | down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Downing Pond. If only every location had this much outdoors cool stuff, what a great world it would be. There's whitewater on Narraguagus River - West Branch for all you adrenaline kick people; why not a little side visit to Black Rock Brook. most rain, and August is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. There is a tremendous hiking trail in close proximity to Downing Pond called the Alder Path Trail; camping is available at Flanders Bay. And if that's not
enough, there's lots more to do near Downing Pond. A short journey to Sprague Falls is always worthwhile, and a lake nearby is Long Pond. The Harborside Hotel and Marina is a good place to get some rest, and Acadia National Park is
a nice national park. A delightful nearby hotel is Bar Harbor Inn, and Downing Pond is not the only spot close by, Round Pond is a close by lake. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Narraguagus River, and camping at Mainayr Campground is always a perfect experience.
