Looking for some flowing water? Try Black Rock Brook, and Flanders Bay is a good local campground. Get covered with water paddling on Narraguagus River - West Branch, unsurprisingly you could also stop at Round Pond while you're here; it's not far at all. This lake is so wonderful. Sprague Falls is an inspiring place to explore while you're here, and you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Alder Path Trail. The Harborside Hotel and Marina is a magnificent
location to get some rest; hiking along the The Anvil Trail is great fun.
Be careful coming to Downing Pond, you might not ever wanna return home again. The summit of Catskin Mountain can be observed from Downing Pond, and swamps don’t sound that fine but Catskin Heath in close proximity to Downing Pond is quite fine. If you need a site to stay Bar Harbor Inn is a glorious choice, and why not camp at Mainayr Campground since you're here at Downing Pond. All
