Dow Pond is a good location to visit for more than one day, Jo-mary Lake Campground is a good location to camp nearby; hiking along the Norton Trail is great fun. Going for a hike along the Number Two Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood; a beautiful lake like Sebec Lake is a good place to have a look at. This lake is so wonderful. You can never get enough of the fine skiing at New Hermon       Mountain, and soar down the rapids of Pleasant River - East Branch in a kayak. Parker Pond is a great lake in close proximity to Dow Pond, and paddling on Piscataquis River is so much fun. Dow Pond gets lots of water; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If the weather is gorgeous, you get a pleasant view of Buck Hill from Dow Pond, and swing by Gulf Stream it's a splendid                  place to pop by. For the period of the summertime, highs typically are in the 70's at Dow Pond while overnight lows are mostly in the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are typically in the 20's while Dow Pond nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Take a hike on the Northwest Ridge Road, and you can stay the night at Stetson Shores Campground.
