Why not take a refreshing hike along the Norton Trail, and Piscataquis River is a tremendous whitewater spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Dow Pond; Northwest Ridge Road is a magnificent local trail; at Dow Pond you can see Buck Hill. During the long summer days at Dow Pond temperatures are usually in the 70's while nighttime lows are frequently in the 50's.       The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Dow Pond are in the 0's. Dow Pond sees pretty high levels of rain; November is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Pleasant River - East Branch; do take a hike on the Number Two Trail. It's a glorious idea to take a look at Gulf                  Stream, it's close to Dow Pond, and what would winter be without some skiing at New Hermon Mountain. So many fun things to do here at Dow Pond, too tremendous to be true.
