During the warm months at Desert Pond temperatures are usually in the 70's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the winter highs are regularly in the 20's with temperatures at Desert Pond dipping down into the 0's all through winter nights. Hopkins Stream is in the neighborhood of Desert Pond and is always a delight to have a look at; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for       you then, we recommend Sandy River. Man, is there lots of exciting stuff to do in the neighborhood of Desert Pond. The skiing at Titcomb is fine. There's so much to do here at Desert Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Laurel is a good spot for that. Desert Pond frequently gets a great deal of rain; November is when you get the most rain here while February is frequently the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors                  Winthrop Motel is a tremendous place to spend a night or two, and the sight of stunning Bowen Hill is great. Here at Desert Pond you'll probably meet some folks from Augusta-Waterville. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Desert Pond has to offer, you can camp at Five Seasons Campground. This lake is so wonderful. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can visit Taylor Pond Dam, and Desert Pond is not the only spot nearby, Hopkins Pond is a nearby lake. There's great hiking along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail; dry warm beds await you at Maple Hill Farm B & B Inn. A lake nearby is Taylor Pond, and get your pulse rate up on the great whitewater of Cobbosseecontee Stream.   Winthrop Motel, Winthrop 7 miles away Located 1.5 miles from scenic downtown Winthrop.
