The beauty of Deasey Ponds is reason enough to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Katahdin Inn is a splendid place to get some rest; you'll most likely meet some folks from Bangor here. If you come at the right time of year, Wassataquoik Stream offers some glorious whitewater; a good place to camp here at Deasey Ponds is Hidden Springs Campground. Deasey Ponds is right by the Telos Tote Road; why not camp at Allagash Gateway Campsite while you're here at Deasey Ponds.

| | There are some fine whitewater spots on Penobscot River - East Branch; do take a hike on the Sand Bank Trail. Deasey Ponds is a good place of common precipitation; during the month of November you get the most rain around here, and February is the month with the least moisture.
