If you need a place to stay Winthrop Motel is a perfect choice, and at Davis Pond you can spot Berry Hill. Whitewater paddling is tremendous on Wilson Stream; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to close by Black Pond. This lake is so wonderful. is next to Davis Pond. A good deal of rain falls at Davis Pond; during the month of November you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. Davis Pond
is not far at all from Augusta-Waterville, and going for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is always a glorious adventure.

Eaton Mountain
 | 22 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park.
