If you are in this part of Maine make sure to pay a visit to Crosby Pond. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Horseshoe Pond, and you can go for a hike on the Arnold Trail. From Crosby Pond you get a glorious vista of Louise Mountain, and splendid hiking is available along the Morrell Trail. Why not camp at Cathedral Pines Camping Area since you're here at Crosby Pond, and not far from Crosby Pond you get some good water

Sure, Mud Pond is in the vicinity, and if you come at the right time of year, Moose River - South Branch offers some splendid whitewater. If you came for an overnight stay Cupsuptic Campground is a perfect place to camp, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Saddleback. and February on the other hand is the driest. If you go for the outdoors, you'll fancy Crosby Pond. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Dead River - North Branch, and don't forget to take a brilliant little tour to Massachusetts Bog
Stream. All through the warm months, highs mostly are in the 70's at Crosby Pond, and the nighttime is a tad cooler of course, commonly in the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's
overnight here at Crosby Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Swamps are exciting sites and Lower Hathan Bog right next door to Crosby Pond is no exception, and don't leave Crosby Pond without first going for a hike along the Arnold Pond Trail.

 | 11 miles away 2 PHOTOS I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises.... |
