There are some good whitewater spots on Penobscot River - South Branch, and unsurprisingly Alder Brook flows through this neighborhood. This lake is so wonderful. Moose River Campground is a good campground nearby, and Crocker Pond is right by the Sally Mountain Trail. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Crocker Pond, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Crocker

| | Pond temperatures descend to the-10's. Burnt Land Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop by; after a long day outdoors Herbert Grand Hotel is a wonderful spot to spend a night or two. All the outdoors fun things near Crocker Pond will keep you coming back repeatedly. Have a magnificent hiking adventure along the Alder Brook Trail, and Jackman Landing Campground is a nice local campground. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then | |

we recommend Little Spencer Stream. Do explore Gander Pond near Crocker Pond, it's a beautiful lake, and hiking along the Bald Mountain Trail is glorious fun. Crocker Pond gets a normal amount of yearly rain; July is when you get the most rain here, and February on the other hand is the driest.
