    If you like lakes and you're in this part of Maine you can check out Cranberry Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Bigelow Range Trail, and if you came to camp Crocker Mountain Cirque Campground is a delightful location to do that. Summertime highs at Cranberry Pond usually tend to be in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are mostly in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Cranberry Pond. Some of  
   the water close by flows, like Stoney Brook, and fine hiking is available along the Fire Warden Trail.
Really wonderful skiing awaits you at Saddleback, and get your heart pumping on the brilliant whitewater of Dead River - South Branch. Just can't get enough of Cranberry Pond. From Cranberry Pond you obtain a pleasant sight of Cranberry Peak; if you've had enough of Cranberry Pond, Jones Pond is close by. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Cranberry Pond;
 
               Piazza Rock Trail is a tremendous local trail; you're possibly interested in lakes, The Horns Pond is one of those nearby.
You can run the rapids of Spencer Stream in the neighborhood of Cranberry Pond, and you can never get enough of the splendid skiing at Sugarloaf USA. Cranberry Pond is a good place of normal rain; through the month of November you get the most snow around here, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Black Arrow Lodge is always a great experience.

LARGEST ADVANCED SKIING COMPLEX IN THE EAST
The new chair provides easy access to what was already the largest self-contained advanced skiing complex in the East. The black diamond terrain is in a bowl that is separate from the rest of the ski area. Three advanced trails were added in the bowl this summer. The new lift services 12 Top-to-Bottom advanced skiing runs.
NOVICES & INTERMEDIATES CAN SKI FROM THE SUMMIT -- FOR THE FIRST TIME
The new quad chairlift also allows novice and intermediate skiers to ski from the summit for the first time. Novices can now enjoy the panoramic views and ski along the 4000 ft. ridge amongst rime-frosted conifers before descending to the base via the 3.1 mile America and Hudson Highway trails. Intermediates can ski Tri-Color and Green Weaver, a one mile loop, back to the Kennebago Chair.

I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises....
