Crooked River
My sister and I put in just below eddes falls this summer and kayaked all the way to sebago lake. Nice trip....My friend Dan and I ran part of this section last summer. Instead of putting in at Scribner's Mill, we launched from Edes Falls, just above the Rapids. It was a good inroduction to whitewater. Dan flipped within the first five minutes, but being that the water is relatively shallow, he did little more than get wet on a hot summers day. The Route 302 bridge is a logical pull out spot. There is a large mass of debris blocking passage of the river there. The only tricky part is that the walls of the riverband are steep and slippery, so it helps to have someone with you for the portage....

Shawnee Peak

...an 40 trails, four gladed areas of all ability levels, two terrain parks - including the NEW 12' x 20' Wall Ride, a 400-foot halfpipe, five lifts, 98 percent snowmaking and an unprecedented big-mountain experience combined with small-mountain value.
Need a place to stay? Check out the East Slope Condos - located slopeside, just a short slide from the base lodge, these brand new two-bedroom luxury condos are available for rent and sale. Pay as little as $31.25 pp/pn for a 5-night Sunday-Friday stay (non-holiday)! Call the reservation office at 207-647-8444 for more info.
Now, more than ever, it's easy to ''Sneak to the Peak.'' Shawnee Peak offers a world of accessible skiing and riding fun. The mountain overlooks scenic Moose Pond, and offers great views of New Hampshire's Mount Washington and the Presidential Range to the west, and the Lakes Region of western Maine to the east. The Peak's gladed terrain allows intermediate skiers to experience the thrill and beauty of skiing among the trees of Shawnee's Sherwood Forest area or graduate to the advanced and expert terrain in t...

Sebago Lake Basin

I grew up on Lindsay Island. My folks sold the Islands in 1951 or 52 and moved west to California. My father is still alive but does not remember the selling price. Thks Bob Kelly.  ...The Lindsay Islands were purchased in 1957 and are still owned today by three families, the Freemans, Leavitts and Bancrofts...

Chaffin Pond
15 miles away
This is a nice small pond just off of 302 but you can't hear any of the busy traffic. I'd recommend LOTS of bug sprays as the mosquitoes tend to swarm and are very plentiful this year. If you're not a fisherman but your children are...there are picnic tables for you to enjoy a book, needlepoint, or just relax and take in the fresh air....

West Pond
17 miles away
West Pond is a truly special place, in the foothils of Mr. Washington. As you approach the pond from the South on Rt. 160, you are met by a breathtaking view of Mt. Washington which is 40 miles away. The water in west pond is crystal clear, and you can often hear the loons. There is a large area around the pond that is protected in tree growth, so the pond will never face additional stress of building. There is also no public access for boats, and that keeps it quiet and free of the kind of noise and congestion you see in popular lakes elsewhere....
