Going for a hike on the Potters Trail is always a delightful adventure, and Scottish Inns Houlton is a fine place to get some rest. If you come at the right time of year, Mattawamkeag River - West Branch offers some glorious whitewater. Lakes? Sure, Spaulding Lake is close by. This lake is so wonderful. Soar down the rapids of Mattawamkeag River - East Branch in a kayak; a wonderful site to camp here at Cochrane       Lake is My Brothers Place. Throughout the warm days of summer highs here at Cochrane Lake reach the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are usually in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Cochrane Lake dip into the 0's. Camping at Wilde Pines Campground is always a great experience; after a long day outdoors Shiretown Motor Inn is a splendid spot to spend a night or two. Take a side trip                  to Baxter Brook, and there is a wonderful hiking trail nearby called the Kennedy Tote Road. This lake is so wonderful. A day on the slopes of Bigrock is just what you need. Cochrane Lake is a good place of typical rain; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain while February is usually the driest month. This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. On a glorious day at Cochrane Lake you can take a hike along the Pierce Tote Road; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Timoney Lake.   Scottish Inns Houlton, Houlton 14 miles away Our Motel is in the center of the Houlton area.
