Hiking along the Island Pond Trail is tremendous fun; there's some flowing water close by, Bald Mountain Brook is a stream you can stop at while you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are great; Big Machias Lake is a lake that's right next door to Clayton Lake. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Clayton Lake has to offer, you can camp at Umcolcus Sporting Camps. You're almost certainly interested in lakes, Mud Pond is one of those nearby.

| | There's so much to do here at Clayton Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Homestead Lodge is a perfect place for that. Clayton Lake is a good spot of common precipitation; August is the wettest month with most rain while February is commonly the driest month.
Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Clayton Lake. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's, and nighttime lows in the-10's | |
