Why not stop by Clark Pond if you're passing through these parts. What would winter be without some skiing at Lost Valley, and during your spree here you'll meet some people from Portland-South Portland for sure. If you want to hit the beach, Scarborough Beach is close at hand, and camping at Bayley's Camping Resort is always a glorious experience. | | on the other hand is the driest. Rye Pond is a nearby lake that you could visit; while you're here, you could explore Long Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Swamps don’t sound that fine but Rigby Bog right next door to Clark Pond is reasonably fine, and in the neighborhood of Clark Pond you stumble on a golf course called Sable Oaks Golf Club. there's whitewater on Chandler Brook for all you adrenaline people. While you're here at Clark Pond, you could also have a look at picturesque Stroudwater River Reservoir; there's always Clark Pond Dam to stop at near Clark Pond.
That right there is a load already, but it keeps on going; Clark Pond has it all. Rodeway Inn South Portland is a great place to get some rest, and Thompson Point is not far at all. Summer at Clark Pond arrives with high temperatures
in the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Clark Pond temperatures descend to the 0's. Blueberry
Hill is clearly visible from Clark Pond, and there are some fine whitewater spots on Royal River. And that's not all you can do here at Clark Pond. A delightful site to camp here at Clark Pond is A Vacationland Campground; Back Shore is rather close by if you're in a beach type of mood.

Very close to the Eastern Trail for a scenic hike of nature and wildlife. A tranquil setting but yet close to shopping, fine dining and the beach. Not many activities on site, but no noise either. Also, a strong WiFi signal was nice for a change and cable TV with 70 channels at our level site. Highly recommend if staying for a week, month or the season. Plenty to do in the area.... |

 | 13 miles away This is a nice small pond just off of 302 but you can't hear any of the busy traffic. I'd recommend LOTS of bug sprays as the mosquitoes tend to swarm and are very plentiful this year. If you're not a fisherman but your children are...there are picnic tables for you to enjoy a book, needlepoint, or just relax and take in the fresh air.... |
