If you like lakes and you're in this part of Maine you can check out China Lake. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can take a look at China Lake Dam; at China Lake you always meet someone from Augusta-Waterville. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Waterville Inn, and needless to say Fish Brook flows through this vicinity. This lake is so wonderful. There are other spots here than China Lake, for example Messalonskee Stream Reservoir, and China Lake is a fine place to visit for more than one day, Green Valley Campground is a fine place to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Comfort Inn & Suites is a great spot to get some rest. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining things at China Lake. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Sebasticook River,
and you can never get enough of the pleasant skiing at Eaton Mountain. From a rainfall point of view China Lake is a pretty common place; November is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount
of precipitation. If you come at the right time of year, Wesserunsett Stream offers some great whitewater, and Countryside Camping is a perfect local campground.

Eaton Mountain

Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends.
The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park.
