Carlton Pond is always a pleasure to visit. All through the warm months at Carlton Pond highs are mostly in the 70's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 20's; overnight lows at Carlton Pond through the wintertime commonly plunge into the 0's. Get your heart beating on the glorious whitewater of Martin Stream, and camping at Unity Marina Campground is always a great experience. This lake

is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. Beech Hill is clearly visible from Carlton Pond, and a splendid spot for whitewater paddling is Sebasticook River. Lakes are such calm locations, why not explore Unity Pond next to Carlton Pond, and camping is available at Merlin's Cove Sporting Lodge.

Eaton Mountain
 | 29 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
