A visit to Caribou Bog is always a good idea. This lake is so wonderful. Summertime highs at Caribou Bog ordinarily tend to be in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Caribou Bog temperatures plunge to the-10's. Saddleback has wonderful slopes and a friendly staff, and why not a little side spree to Halfmile Brook. The high level of rain makes

Don't leave Caribou Bog without first going for a hike along the Arnold Pond Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Moose River - South Branch offers some pleasant whitewater. can be such exciting places, go to Lower Hathan Bog if you're here at Caribou Bog. Cathedral Pines Camping Area is a glorious campground nearby, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Dead River - North Branch. This lake is so
wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Caribou Bog; Arnold Trail is a glorious local trail, and you can stay the night at Black Arrow Lodge. While you're here at Caribou Bog, you could also visit gorgeous Lost Pond, and great hiking is available along the Morrell Trail.

 | 2 PHOTOS I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises.... |
