     There's wonderful hiking along the Piazza Rock Trail, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out nearby Rush Pond. At Butler Pond during the summertime highs are in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's while Butler Pond nighttime low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the-10's. Go for a hike on the Bigelow Range Trail, and there's  
   whitewater on Parlin Pond Stream for all you thrill seekers. Really perfect skiing awaits you at Saddleback, and you can run the rapids of Dead River - South Branch.
This lake is so wonderful. Some of the water nearby flows, like Viles Brook. The yearly rain here at Butler Pond is about average; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Butler Pond, you'll find
 
               Butler Pond which is a striking lake; don't leave Butler Pond without first going for a hike along the Fire Warden Trail.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. Black Arrow Lodge is a glorious local campground, and skiing at Sugarloaf USA is one of those things you just have to do. Butler Pond is a perfect place to visit for more than one day, King & Bartlett Lake Camp is a perfect place to camp nearby, and a great close by hotel is Herbert Grand Hotel.

I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises....
