     Simon Pond is a nearby lake that you could visit, and paddling on Baskahegan Stream is so much fun. There's so much to do here at Butcher Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Maine Wilderness Camps is a tremendous spot for that, and get covered with water paddling on St. Croix River. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun things at Butcher Lake. Summertime highs at Butcher Lake usually tend to be in the 70's; through summer nights  
   temperatures are in the 50's. Highs through the winter are ordinarily in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Butcher Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Butcher Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Long Lake Campground is a fine local campground; getting to Barter Brook from Butcher Lake is trouble-free. Butcher Lake commonly gets lots of rain; November is the month that gets the most rain, and June on the other hand is the driest. A great close by hotel is Scottish Inns Houlton, and a lake nearby is Unknown Pond.

Clifford Lake is very isolated . You can get their via route 9 or Route 1 in Princeton. I would recommend a recent typo map and asking plenty of guestions from the locals. There is a small camping area. My last trip there (92) I had a truck and it was needed to traverse one road that comes to mind. The fishing was excellent ( pickerel averaged 20 in.) .
