Stay the night at Camp Laurel; not far from Brainard Pond you'll hit upon Mill Pond which is a gorgeous lake. For the period of the summer highs here at Brainard Pond reach the 70's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Brainard Pond are in the 0's. Whitewater paddling is great on Cobbosseecontee Stream, and Winthrop Motel is a delightful

Dry warm beds await you at Maple Hill Farm B & B Inn, and there's some out of the ordinary stuff to catch a glimpse of at Mill Pond Dam in close proximity to Brainard Pond. This lake is so wonderful. paddling on Cobbosseecontee Stream. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Brainard Pond has to offer, you can camp at Augusta West Lakeside Resort, and it's a splendid idea to pop by Beaver Brook. A large amount of
rain falls at Brainard Pond; all through the month of November you get the most rain around here; February is when it's the driest. Going for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is always a good adventure, and there are other places here than Brainard Pond, for example Carlton Pond.

Eaton Mountain
 | 23 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park.
