Bowles Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Big Lake Campground is a fine local campground, and not far from Bowles Lake you'll locate First Lake which is a picturesque lake. That right there is loads already, but it keeps on going; Bowles Lake has it all. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Bowles Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Keenes Lake Camping Grounds is a perfect spot for that, and there's whitewater on

| | Machias River for all you adrenaline people. Bowles Lake is a pretty wet place generally with much precipitation; most of the rain falls through November while June is usually the driest month. From Bowles Lake you get a great panorama of Porcupine Pinnacle, and you can run the rapids of Mopang Stream. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Bowles Lake. Clifford Lake
 | 11 miles away Clifford Lake is very isolated . You can get their via route 9 or Route 1 in Princeton. I would recommend a recent typo map and asking plenty of guestions from the locals. There is a small camping area. My last trip there (92) I had a truck and it was needed to traverse one road that comes to mind. The fishing was excellent ( pickerel averaged 20 in.) .
