If you come at the right time of year, Sheepscot River offers some brilliant whitewater, and the vista of striking Level Hill is great. Throughout the warmest time of the year at Bowler Pond temperatures are typically in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's, and overnight lows at Bowler Pond through the winter ordinarily sink into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful.

| | Stay the night at Cozy Pines Campground. Lakes are great; Jump Pond is a lake that's next to Bowler Pond. Bowler Pond is a good spot of normal precipitation; November is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. Eaton Mountain
 | 27 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
