     Good hiking is available along the Shore Trail, and this is a popular spot for folks from Bangor. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by Upper Deadwater. An average amount of rain falls at Bog Pond; through November this area sees the most rain while February is regularly the driest month. The warmest time of the year at Bog Pond comes with high temperatures in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. For the duration  
   of the winter the highs are mostly in the 20's, and night lows in the 0's for Bog Pond.
Going for a hike on the Lake Trail is always a great adventure; unsurprisingly Bog Brook flows through this area. A fine site to camp here at Bog Pond is South Branch Lake Camp, and a tremendous swamp in the vicinity of Bog Pond is Caribou Bog. This place is unbeatable, just look at all the cool stuff to do in the vicinity of Bog Pond. Birch Mountain can be seen from
 
               Bog Pond, and you can run the rapids of Piscataquis River.
Lakes are tremendous; Lower Deadwater is a lake that's near Bog Pond, and camping is available at Allagash Gateway Campsite. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Econo Lodge Inn & Suites, and get your heart pumping on the splendid whitewater of Penobscot River - West Branch. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Americas Best Value Heritage Motor Inn is a great choice, and you can go for a hike on the Gray Ledge Dam Trail.
