    The beauty of Bog Pond is reason enough to stop by. The skiing at Shawnee Peak is great; Bear Mountain Village is a good local campground. All the water falling down from the sky makes Bog Pond a wet place; throughout the month of November you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is September. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Bog Pond you acquire some pleasant water scenery at Bear Pond Dam; the Albany Notch Trail offers hiking  
   at its best.
Now, you may assume that's loads but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Bog Pond. Not far from Bog Pond, you'll stumble on Bear Pond which is a stunning lake; hiking is a popular thing to do around Bog Pond; Albany Mountain Trail is a brilliant local trail. This lake is so wonderful. Bear Mountain is beautiful and can be seen from Bog Pond, and why not take a look at nearby Morse Brook if you're here at Bog Pond.
Why not camp
 
               at Vacationland Campground while you're here at Bog Pond, and there's perfect hiking along the Albany Brook Trail. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Bog Pond while nighttime lows are generally in the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Bog Pond are in the 0's. Golf can be played at Bridgton Highlands Country Club, and after a long day outdoors Pleasant Mountain Inn is a brilliant location to spend a night or two.
If you need a location to stay The Bethel Inn Resort is a fine choice, and everybody nearby loves skiing at Mount Abram. Don't you try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a good time here at Bog Pond. A wonderful place for whitewater paddling close to Bog Pond is Crooked River, and there are other spots here than Bog Pond, for example McWain Pond.

Crooked River
My sister and I put in just below eddes falls this summer and kayaked all the way to sebago lake. Nice trip....My friend Dan and I ran part of this section last summer. Instead of putting in at Scribner's Mill, we launched from Edes Falls, just above the Rapids. It was a good inroduction to whitewater. Dan flipped within the first five minutes, but being that the water is relatively shallow, he did little more than get wet on a hot summers day. The Route 302 bridge is a logical pull out spot. There is a large mass of debris blocking passage of the river there. The only tricky part is that the walls of the riverband are steep and slippery, so it helps to have someone with you for the portage....
