Titcomb is a very popular ski area close by; a great site for whitewater paddling is Sandy River. So much enjoyable stuff to do here at Black Pond, too delightful to be true. Take a little journey to Mill Stream if you're here at Black Pond; Black Pond is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Laurel is a delightful local campground. Throughout the summertime months at Black Pond temperatures are mostly in the 70's, and all through the night it

| | cools down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Black Pond. Black Pond sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain; February is when it's the driest. From Black Pond you acquire a pleasant panorama of Eaton Mountain, and after a long day outdoors Winthrop Motel is a great place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. that is in the neighborhood of Black Pond; if you get bored of Black Pond you could also stop by nearby Flying Pond. This lake is so wonderful. A lake close by is Whittier Pond, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn & Suites.
There's delightful hiking along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail; in the event that you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Wilson Stream. Here at Black Pond you'll perhaps meet some people from Augusta-Waterville, and if you came to camp Five Seasons Campground is a delightful place to do that.

Eaton Mountain
 | 22 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
