If you come at the right time of year, Cobbosseecontee Stream offers some good whitewater. Dam Cove Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth going to, and a lake nearby is Campbell Pond. Birchwood Pond is a pretty wet place typically with much precipitation; the wettest month of the year is mostly November, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is September. This lake is so wonderful.       Camping is available at Head Beach Camp Grounds, and glide down the rapids of Cathance River in a kayak. Enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Hunnewell Beach, and a good location to camp here at Birchwood Pond is Meadowbrook Camping Area. A round of golf at nearby Bath Country Club is a fine way to kill some time; do schedule some time to stop at Basin Point if you have a chance. For the period of the warm days of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Birchwood                  Pond. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Birchwood Pond. What a location this is for outdoors folks. The scenery at Houghton Pond Dam close to Birchwood Pond is picturesque; Batchelder Hill is clearly visible from Birchwood Pond. This lake is so wonderful. A great close by hotel is Rock Gardens Inn, and Bragdon Rock is also a good spot to discover.
