     There's nice hiking along the Auburn Log Hauling Road; Jo-mary Lake Campground is a perfect campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. This is a glorious neighborhood for people who like lakes. Third Roach Pond is a lake close at hand. So many exciting things to do here at Big Spring, too fine to be true. You're almost certainly into lakes, Beaver Pond is one of those nearby, and don't leave Big Spring without first going for a hike along the Gulf Hagas  
   Trail. If you came for an overnight stay Frost Pond Campground is a magnificent place to camp, and at Big Spring you can make out Black Pinnacle.
Whitewater paddling is wonderful on Nahmakanta Stream; a good nearby hotel is Lodge at Moosehead Lake. Pleasant River - West Branch has a brilliant whitewater paddling spot close by; you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Big Squaw while you're here. This lake is so wonderful. The Number Two Trail
 
               offers hiking at its best, and Econo Lodge Inn & Suites is a great location to get some rest.
An average amount of rainfall falls at Big Spring; the month with most of the rain is July, and February is when it's the driest. During the summer at Big Spring temperatures are generally in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Big Spring.
