Sprague River flows through this vicinity, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Cathance River. This lake is so wonderful. There are other sites here than Big Pond, for example Meetinghouse Pond, and here at Big Pond you can catch a glimpse of Haskell Hill. At Big Pond through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. Highs through the winter are regularly in the 30's, and after the sun
is down during the winter temperatures at Big Pond dip into the 10's. Why not camp at Hermit Island Campground while you're here at Big Pond, and Bald Head Ledge is a great spot to spend some time.
This lake is so wonderful. A nice close by hotel is Galen C Moses House B and. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors fun stuff the area in the vicinity of Big Pond has to offer. Nothing beats kicking back at Head Beach. Lakes? Sure, Cape Small Pond is

in close proximity. Hunnewell Beach is a beach next to Big Pond that you can have a look at; if you need a site to stay Holiday Inn BATH (BRUNSWICK AREA) is a brilliant choice.
If you came for an overnight stay Head Beach Camp Grounds is a great place to camp; Bigelow Bight is pretty close. Big Pond regularly gets a great deal of rainfall; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain; the driest of the months is July.

Sand Dune Beach on Hermit Island....
I am one of the owners of this campground.?A camper has made his own website, but it is NOT our official website and may contain old or inaccurate information.?Please check our website at www.hermitisland.com for accurate, up-to-date information....
Hermit Island is easily the best vacation your family will ever make. There are seven white sand beaches, which are not crowded at all. You could easily find that you have the entire beach to yourself. Among the other options, there are hiking trails, biking, fishing, boating, a full marina, swimming, and much more. The best part is that at night, when camping near the coast of the island, you fall asleep to the soft lull of the waves and the gentle summer breeze. It is truly one of Maine's hidden gems, as you will find no other place like it. There is something magical about it, that will draw you back year after year. My love for this place will never die out. For more information, check out the official travel guide for Hermit Island at www.hermitisland.weebly.com...

Camp Seguin-tenting
This was the best place on earth. My husband and I went back every year for a week on tranquility on the ocean. Crushed, I mean extremely disappointed to find out it had gone out of business. We drove by as well to make sure it was closed. We couldn't quite believe it....This was great campground, but alas, it has been closed for a few years now. I think we camped there the last year they were open. We were very disappointed to find them out of business and even drove by once to really make sure they were closed....

Cathance River

Fun short spot, We made it a overnight trip and had a good old time. There needs to be a bunch of water in this stream to even make it doable. on 4/20 we were scooting-ass over many shallow spots in our yaks. Fun drops with laziness inbetween make for a good time especially for the novice....

Ocean wood Campground
15 miles away
I have been camping at Oceanwood for the last 3 or 4 years. It is by far the best ocean camping you can find in Maine by far. Spacious sites, peace and quiet, the ocean view is just plain beautiful. If you want a true Maine ocean camping experience, this is the spot....theres no place like it, that I know of. My wife and I first stayed at ocean wood over ten years ago. A friend told us about it. we are avid campers and have camped all over the U.S.A. we try to avoid campgrounds usually opting for back country camping because with the r.v. craze of late so many campgrounds have estentialy become glorified parking lots. this is not the case at ocean wood. the sites give a good sense of privacy and coexist with the natural surroundings almost seemlessly. ocean front sites are spectacular and give an opportiunity to experience maines downeast coast so personaly it becomes a part of you. We try to go each year and realy miss the place between visits. The owner and staff make you feel like a part of the family and we have never had a regret or even a hint of a problem. I wont go into descriptions of the natural beauty of the place because it is truly beyond that. if you know downeast maine, this is it. if you dont, ocean wood is the definition. ...
