Do stop by Ben Lake while you're in this part of Maine. This is no spot for people who don’t like to have a good time. If you come at the right time of year, Fish River offers some pleasant whitewater; if you came for an overnight stay Clover Hill Campground is a good site to camp. If you get bored of Ben Lake, you could also stop at close by Labbe Pond, and some nearby water includes Drake Brook. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Fish River, and after a long day outdoors Hunter's Inn is a delightful spot to spend a night or two. The summit of Michaud Hill can be seen from Ben Lake, and camping is available at Birch Haven Campground. | |

Go for a hike on the Island Pond Trail, and dry warm beds await you at American Dream Resort. Ben Lake gets a typical amount of annual rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest of the months is February. On a good day you can visit Mud Lake, a swamp next to Ben Lake.
