This lake is one of the great places here in the White Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Kennebago River, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Black Mountain. This is no site for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Secret Bog is a nearby lake that you could explore; why not take a refreshing hike along the Milrose Trail. So many enjoyable things to do in the White Mountains, not sufficient

| | time. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Dead River - South Branch, and do take a hike on the Bemis Trail. Cupsuptic Campground is a nice local campground, and a splendid swamp in the neighborhood of Beaver Bog is Hayno Bog. An average amount of precipitation falls at Beaver Bog; throughout August this area sees the most rain; the driest of the months is February. Beaver Bog, you could also go to close by Quimby Pond; why not camp at North Camps if you're here at Beaver Bog. High temperatures at Beaver Bog through the long summer days are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip
down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and night lows in the-10's for Beaver Bog. This lake is so wonderful. Really perfect skiing awaits you at Saddleback, and hiking along the Bemis Stream Trail is glorious fun.

Bugeye Pond
 | 17 miles away 2 PHOTOS I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises.... |
