Do stop by Shirley Pond in close proximity to Bear Pond, it's a pretty lake, and there is a fine hiking trail nearby called the Number Four Mountain Trail. That right there is lots already, but it carries on; Bear Pond has it all. Camping at Northern Pride Lodge and Campground is always a wonderful experience, and Piscataquis River - West Branch has a tremendous       whitewater paddling spot nearby. Don't miss out on a good swamp; Dennin Swamp is right here at Bear Pond, and in the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Piscataquis River - East Branch. The annual precipitation here at Bear Pond is about average; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest month is February. During the summer months at Bear Pond temperatures are generally in the 70's,                  and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Bear Pond temperatures dip to the-10's. Shirley Pond Dam is not far at all from Bear Pond; on a delightful day you can take a hike along the Big Squaw Mountain Trail. If you came to camp Balsam woods Campground is a great place to do that, and Bingham Motor Inn is a splendid place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. A stunning lake like Bunker Ponds in close proximity to Bear Pond is a splendid site to have a look at, and some nearby water includes Bunker Stream.
