Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Piscataquis River - West Branch, and there are fine sites to discover along the Big Squaw Mountain Trail. Summertime highs at Bear Pond generally tend to be in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Bingham Motor Inn is a great spot to spend a night or two; going for a hike on the Intake Trail is always a fine adventure. The amount of rainfall that falls at Bear Pond is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is July, and February is the month with the least moisture.
