    Why not stop by Bear Pond if you're passing through these parts. If you come at the right time of year, Piscataquis River - East Branch offers some great whitewater, and Lodge at Moosehead Lake is a good location to get some rest. The scenery at Shirley Pond Dam next to Bear Pond is beautiful, and Dennin Swamp is an exciting swamp near Bear Pond. Camping at Balsam woods Campground is always a good experience, and don't leave Bear Pond without first going for  
   a hike along the Number Four Mountain Trail.
Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Piscataquis River - West Branch, and there are fine sites to discover along the Big Squaw Mountain Trail. Summertime highs at Bear Pond generally tend to be in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Bear Pond are in the-10's. Having
 
               a fine time at Bear Pond is painless. If you're here at Bear Pond, you could stop by Bunker Stream, and a fine location to camp here at Bear Pond is Northern Pride Lodge and Campground.
This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Bingham Motor Inn is a great spot to spend a night or two; going for a hike on the Intake Trail is always a fine adventure. The amount of rainfall that falls at Bear Pond is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is July, and February is the month with the least moisture.
