Good hiking is available along the Number Four Mountain Trail, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Mud Pond. This lake is so wonderful. There's great hiking along the Intake Trail, and a great site to camp here at Bear Pond is Balsam woods Campground. The summit of Ledge Hill can be spotted from       Bear Pond, and Little Wilson Falls is an inspiring location to stop at while here. So much fun stuff in close proximity to Bear Pond, truly phenomenal. Bear Pond is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Wildwood Shores Campground is a nice local campground, and the slopes of Big Squaw are so inviting noone can resist. The annual rainfall here at Bear Pond is about average; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain; February on the other hand is                  the driest. Go for a hike on the Gulf Hagas Trail, and Juniper Knee Bog is a swamp near Bear Pond. All through the warm days of summer highs here at Bear Pond get into the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's, and overnight lows during the winter for Bear Pond tend to be in the-10's. If you need a location to stay Lodge at Moosehead Lake is a perfect choice. This lake is so wonderful.
