     Birch Mountain is a peak you can distinguish from Bear Pond, and there's great hiking along the Gray Ledge Dam Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart beating on the tremendous whitewater of Millinocket Stream, and after a long day outdoors Americas Best Value Heritage Motor Inn is a splendid place to spend a night or two. Bear Pond gets a common amount of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily November, that's the one that rains the  
   most, and the driest of the months is February. Summertime at Bear Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Bear Pond are in the 0's.
This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water close by, Mountain Brook is a stream you can visit while you're here, and don't leave Bear Pond without first going for a hike along
 
               the Shore Road Trail. There's whitewater on Penobscot River - West Branch for all you adrenaline kick people, and Tack Pond is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. Bear Pond is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, South Branch Lake Camp is a wonderful local campground; the Shore Trail offers hiking at its best.
