Not far from Basin Pond, you'll locate David Pond which is a gorgeous lake; you can run the rapids of Sandy River. Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn & Suites, and Five Seasons Campground is a pleasant local campground. Basin Pond is a quite wet place regularly with lots of rain; November is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. | | with night lows in the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Basin Pond. That right there is loads already, but it goes on; Basin Pond has it all. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and after a long day outdoors Winthrop Motel is a wonderful spot to spend a night or two. places here than Basin Pond, for example Cranberry Pond. Basin Pond is a great spot to visit for more than one day, East Livermore Campgrounds is a great spot to camp nearby, and since you're here you can play some golf at Maple Lane Inn & Golf Club.

Eaton Mountain
 | 27 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
