Beautiful Basin Pond has much to offer visitors. Not far from Basin Pond, you'll hit upon Long Pond which is a pretty lake, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Bar Island Trail. Just can't get enough of Basin Pond. A wonderful place for whitewater paddling in the neighborhood of Basin Pond is Narraguagus River - West Branch, and if you need a location to stay The Harborside Hotel and Marina is a wonderful choice. | | Brook is a stream that you may bump into during your stay; on a magnificent day you can take a hike along the Kebo Mountain Trail.
Baker Hill is uncomplicated to spot from Basin Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Acadia National Park is a tremendous site in close proximity to Basin Pond, and swamps are interesting sites and Schoodic Bog in the vicinity of Basin Pond is no exception. For the duration of the warm days of summer, highs commonly are in the 70's | |

at Basin Pond, and the nighttime is a bit colder of course, usually in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows during the wintertime for Basin Pond tend to be in the 10's.
Do go to Long Pond Dam
if you're here at Basin Pond, and Union River - East Branch is a splendid whitewater spot close by. Mountain View Campground is a pleasant campground nearby, and the Jessup Trail is a glorious hiking trail nearby. Basin Pond gets
lots of water; the month with most of the rain is November, and the driest of the months is August.
Why not stop at Long Cove also while you're here, and Basin Pond is a nice location to visit for more than one day, Mountainview
Campground is a nice location to camp nearby. But wait, there's more to do close to Basin Pond. A visit to Black Beach near Basin Pond is always a nice idea; after a long day outdoors Bar Harbor Inn is a perfect place to spend a night or two. Lakes? Sure, Mill Pond is close at hand, and on a beautiful day you can visit Schoodic Beach.

We went there in September, but, it seemed like an ideal, quiet place for hikers who may want to get off the beaten track on a very commercial island. The showers were clean, the sites were clean and it was not the most expensive. Forewarned, the shuttle bus doesn't go there, price to pay for remoteness.... |
