The beauty of Back Settlement Pond is reason enough to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. There are some delightful whitewater spots on Penobscot River; camping is available at Mattawamkeag Wilderness Park. Throughout the summertime months at Back Settlement Pond highs are usually in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. | | come at the right time of year, Mattawamkeag offers some pleasant whitewater; if you came for an overnight stay Sleeping Bear Camping is a good place to camp. Back Settlement Pond gets a typical amount of rain; November is the wettest month with most rain while February is mostly the driest month. Katahdin Inn is a great place to get some rest, and Beech Hill is stunning and can be made out from here.
