This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Matagamon Tote Road, and if you've had enough of Atwood Pond, First Lake is nearby. Atwood Pond gets a typical amount of precipitation; July is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is February. Katahdin Inn is a brilliant site to get some rest, and Atwood Pond is not the only place       close by, Grand Lake Matagamon is a close by lake. Whohoo, so much exciting stuff in one place! Atwood Pond is unbeatable! Get covered with water paddling on Seboeis River, and there's delightful hiking along the Spring Brook Trail. A tour to Atwood Pond wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Haskell Rock Pitch, and you can stay the night at South Branch Pond Campground. Matagamon Wilderness Campground is a great campground nearby; you need to take                  a look at The Oxbow while you're here. At Atwood Pond through the summertime highs are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 20's; overnight lows in the-10's for Atwood Pond.
