If you are in Kennebec county it's always a good idea to stop by Androscoggin Lake. At Androscoggin Lake you always meet someone from Lewiston-Auburn, and Lost Valley is a very popular ski area nearby. Winthrop Motel is a wonderful place to get some rest, and whitewater paddling is splendid on Sandy River. This lake is so wonderful. Head up to Titcomb and strap some skis to your feet, and the Appalachian National Scenic Trail offers hiking at its best.
