     Get yourself into a kayak and hit Baskahegan Stream, and since you're here, you could also take a look at delightful Lower Oxbrook Lake. All through the warm months at Amazon Lake temperatures are typically in the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are typically in the 20's while Amazon Lake night low temperatures during the winter are in the 0's. Amazon Lake is a wet place that gets a lot of rain; of all  
   the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and June is the month with the least moisture. Float down the rapids of Grand Lake Stream in a kayak; after a long day outdoors Scottish Inns Houlton is a fine location to spend a night or two.
Do check out Upper Oxbrook Lake near Amazon Lake, it's a wonderful lake, and you can stay the night at Keenes Lake Camping Grounds. This lake is so wonderful. Pineo Point is not far from Amazon Lake at
 
               all. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Amazon Lake has to offer, you can camp at Maine Wilderness Camps. Yeah, come here to Amazon Lake for a nice time. You get a fine view of Pineo Mountains from Amazon Lake.

There is a small camping area. My last trip there (92) I had a truck and it was needed to traverse one road that comes to mind. The fishing was excellent ( pickerel averaged 20 in.) .
