The slopes of Bigrock are so inviting noone can resist; the Pierce Tote Road is a wonderful hiking trail close by. This lake is so wonderful. Near Alerton Lake you discover the Kennedy Tote Road which is a brilliant hiking trail. If you have a thing about the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Alerton Lake. There's whitewater on B Stream for all you adrenaline kick people. There's so much to do here at Alerton Lake                  that you need to camp here for a while, Wilde Pines Campground is a good site for that. Dry warm beds await you at Scottish Inns Houlton; you can run the rapids of Meduxnekeag River - South Branch. Alerton Lake is a good place of typical rainfall; July is the month that gets the most rain while February is frequently the driest month. There's some flowing water close by, Meadow Brook is a stream you can stop at while here, and after a long day outdoors Shiretown Motor Inn is a pleasant place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful.
