Sure, White Pond is near Yates Pond; Rocky Point Golf Course is a great golf course close by. All through the warm months highs here at Yates Pond reach the 80's while nighttime lows are typically in the 60's. Island Beach. This lake is so wonderful. A magnificent location for whitewater paddling close to Yates Pond is Herring Run, and why not camp at Millersville Koa Kampground while you're here at Yates Pond. You're most likely hooked
on lakes, Hines Ponds is one of those nearby, and the panoramas at Greenbelt Park will blow your mind. The Duck Inn Trail is a fine hiking trail near Yates Pond; dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Annapolis. So many enjoyable
things to do here at Yates Pond, too great to be true. On a good day you can stop by Hines Pond Bog, a swamp in the vicinity of Yates Pond. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is fine here at Yates Pond, you can go for a hike along the Boxes Point Trail, and Rock Point Shoal is also a splendid spot to discover.

Burba Lake

A well-maintained path runs around the entire lake where you can normally find soldiers, retirees and their families out for a stroll or a leisurely run. We can all thank the tightening of security due to terrorism for making the lake's having less access. You must have proper ID (Government/Military issued ID) to enter the post, unless it is pre-arranged such as for family reunions and such. The Ft. Meade MWR people take good care of the lake and it's surroundings and nature teems. You will normally find ducks and geese swimming in the lake, some have made it their home. Migratory birds also have put this lake on their itinerary! There is fishing in the lake and also a healthy turtle population. Beavers also have taken up residence in one area and by some of the ''missing'' trees you can tell that they have been there. There is also a resident blue heron that can often be found on the shore of the lake or amongst the greenery on the little island in the middle.
