Goose Creek has a good whitewater paddling spot close by, and a lake nearby is Potomac Valley Country Club Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Lansdowne Resort is a brilliant place to get some rest, and a splendid nearby hotel is SpringHill Suites Ashburn Dulles North. Any time is a brilliant time at Walton Pond if you like the outdoors. If the weather is wonderful here at Walton Pond, you can go for a hike along the Meadow Trail, and an afternoon playing golf at Poolesville

| | Golf Course is always a pleasure. There's so much to do here at Walton Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Marble Quarry Campground is a delightful place for that, naturally you could also check out Tippecanoe Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. Some of the water close by flows, like Broad Run; if you're looking for a good journey, Catoctin Mountain Park is rather near. mostly reach the 80's; the night is a tad cooler of course, ordinarily in the 60's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's while Walton Pond night low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's. Going for a
hike along the Paw Paw Passage Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity, and paddling on Potomac River is so much fun. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Walton Pond
has to offer, you can camp at Chisel Branch Campground, and the Potomac Heritage Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close by. Walton Pond sees pretty high levels of rain; May is when you get the most rain here, and February is the month with the least moisture.

 | Tried to put in at the Fairfax Dam but the City of Fairfax has closed the road and posted no trespassing signs everywhere. Seem to be pretty serious about prosecuting violators and towing cars. The portage around dam is too hard for rafts and steep for others.... |
