This lake is so wonderful. Looking for a brilliant spree? Greenbelt Park is pretty near Snowden
Pond, and do explore Crow Branch since you're here at Snowden Pond. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Little Patuxent River offers some pleasant whitewater; you can have a pleasant hiking adventure
along the Western Ridge Trail. Not far from Snowden Pond, you'll stumble on Bluegill Pond which is a pretty lake, and fine water scenery is available at Cash Creek Dam next to Snowden Pond.
The warmest time of the year brings
highs in the 80's to Snowden Pond; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Snowden Pond descend into
the 20's. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Patuxent River; a nice swamp next to Snowden Pond is Island Marshes.

...groups. A well-maintained path runs around the entire lake where you can normally find soldiers, retirees and their families out for a stroll or a leisurely run. We can all thank the tightening of security due to terrorism for making the lake's having less access. You must have proper ID (Government/Military issued ID) to enter the post, unless it is pre-arranged such as for family reunions and such. The Ft. Meade MWR people take good care of the lake and it's surroundings and nature teems. You will normally find ducks and geese swimming in the lake, some have made it their home. Migratory birds also have put this lake on their itinerary! There is fishing in the lake and also a healthy turtle population. Beavers also have taken up residence in one area and by some of the ''missing'' trees you can tell that they have been there. There is also a resident blue heron that can often be found on the shore of the lake or amongst the greenery on the little island in the middle. All in all, though I'm not a great writer...this is a wonderful and serene place that I always make time ... |

| I often take my kids to the park at Greenbelt Lake. The playground is very big and they have a ton of fun. There are things there suitable for all kids ages. We also go around the lake, me running and them riding thier bikes. the trail and lake are beautiful and shaded - which is wonderful during the hot days in the summer.... |
