If you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Anacostia River, and hiking along the White Horse Trail is wonderful fun. A tour to Greenbelt Park is worthwhile, and you're probably hooked on lakes, Alter Pond is one of those close by. At SCS Lake all through the months of summer highs are in the 80's, and the overnight is rather colder of course, commonly in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and

Camping is available at Scotts Cove Campground; you'll meet a lot of people from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria here. beauty of this region. Man, is there plenty of exciting things to do in the neighborhood of SCS Lake. Camping at Cherry Hill Park is always a glorious experience; you can have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Valley Trail. SCS
Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; May is the month that gets the most rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. A perfect spot for whitewater paddling in the vicinity of SCS Lake is Little
Patuxent River; obviously, this is a perfect vicinity for people who like lakes, Blue Pond is a lake in close proximity.

 | I often take my kids to the park at Greenbelt Lake. The playground is very big and they have a ton of fun. There are things there suitable for all kids ages. We also go around the lake, me running and them riding thier bikes. the trail and lake are beautiful and shaded - which is wonderful during the hot days in the summer.... |

 | I live near Scotts Cove and have never seen a camp ground there. This is a reservoir.? Nor is there skiing at this location.? It is a beautiful area for locals to picnic at and take a walk.... |
Burba Lake
 | 1 PHOTO ...e Ft. Meade army post is a beautiful nature preserve with picnic facilities for large and small groups. A well-maintained path runs around the entire lake where you can normally find soldiers, retirees and their families out for a stroll or a leisurely run. We can all thank the tightening of security due to terrorism for making the lake's having less access. You must have proper ID (Government/Military issued ID) to enter the post, unless it is pre-arranged such as for family reunions and such. The Ft. Meade MWR people take good care of the lake and it's surroundings and nature teems. You will normally find ducks and geese swimming in the lake, some have made it their home. Migratory birds also have put this lake on their itinerary! There is fishing in the lake and also a healthy turtle population. Beavers also have taken up residence in one area and by some of the ''missing'' trees you can tell that they have been there. There is also a resident blue heron that can often be found on the shore of the lake or amongst the greenery on the little island in the middle. All in al... |
