Crow's Nest Campground
IMPORTANT NOTICE: We have received an unconfirmed report that this campground permanently houses two convicted sex offenders. We have been unable to reach the campground to clarify this....This campground, I have stayed at numerous times.? So far I have not had any issues.? Its very quiet in the evening and the owner is very friendly.? However, when pulling into the camp ground there is what seems to be an active trailer park on the right hand side.? The best Sites are located along the stream ending near the upper pools....
Ski Liberty
I loved Ski Liberty when I stayed there a few years ago for a weekend. It was the most fun I've ever had at a ski area. There was a great snow storm while we were there and the conditions were awesome. I'm coming back this year with my children and look forward to sharing your mountain with them....
Long Pine Run Reservoir
12 miles away Long Pine Run Reservoir is a great place for kayaking. Its 150 acres can be circumnavigated in about an hour and a half, without straining. The boat launch area has parking for about 20 cars. The day we were there, only about three or four boats shared the water, making it almost like having your own private lake....
Beaver Creek
13 miles away 1 PHOTO Some additional information that you might be interested in about Beaver Creek is that it is a true limestone spring fed creek. That means that it has warm water in the Winter and cool water in the Summer. The upwelling of water through the limestone bedrock creates a unique ecosystem in Maryland with freshwater shrimp, watercress, and lots of well fed trout. In Winter, this stream can be 10 degrees warmer than any other water and this really attracts wildlife, especially ducks. This is a wonderful little creek to paddle in a 9-10 foot kayak. I guide trout fishing on this stream and it is one of my favorite creeks in Maryland. It holds some trout over 6 lbs. throughout the year. I do not reccommend kayaking this creek in April because there are lots of people fishing for trout. If you would like more free information or to book a scenic paddle or trout fishing day, feel free to contact me at 301-432-8469 or visit my website at http://www.fishnfloatadventures.com...
