Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff right next door to Rainbow Lake. Here at Rainbow Lake you'll most likely meet some folks from Gettysburg, and a brilliant location to camp here at Rainbow Lake is Cunningham Falls State Park. A great nearby hotel is Carroll Valley Resort. At Rainbow Lake through the summertime months       highs are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Rainbow Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Blacks Hilltop Orchard is a forest right next door to Rainbow Lake that you can go to, and after a long day outdoors Super 8 Thurmont is a good place to spend a night or two. The panorama of beautiful Carrick Knob near Rainbow Lake is good; Rainbow Lake is tremendous                  enough to spend more than a day at, Crow's Nest Campground is a tremendous local campground. Head up to Ski Liberty and strap some skis to your feet, and on a splendid day you can take a hike along the Cunningham Falls Nature Trail. There is a nice hiking trail in close proximity to Rainbow Lake called the Spiderbush Nature Trail, and a fine location is Eylers Valley. A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Rainbow Lake; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Hunting Creek is so much fun; a stunning lake like K Section Pond is a great site to pop by. What a location this is for outdoors folks. Whitewater paddling is perfect on Owens Creek, and the vistas at Catoctin Mountain Park will blow your mind.
