It's always fun to stop by Rainbow Lake. Rainbow Lake is right by the Burnt Mills Trail, and if you're here, you might as well check out Bear Hollow. A pleasant location for whitewater paddling in the neighborhood of Rainbow Lake is Town Creek. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of folks from Cumberland here; Rocky Gap State Park is a wonderful campground nearby.

| | Springs Campground is a great local campground. There's fine hiking along the Gum Spring Trail, and in case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Flintstone Creek. Through the summer at Rainbow Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's; the nighttime is slightly cooler of course, generally in the 50's. Lake fall into the 10's.
This lake is so wonderful. Some of the water nearby flows, like Lick Run, and a glorious nearby hotel is Rocky Gap Lodge. The annual rainfall here at Rainbow Lake is about average; during July this area
sees the most rain while January is typically the driest month. Not far from Rainbow Lake you obtain some great water scenery at Don Pleasant Dam, and everyone loves Ravens Den.
So much amusing stuff near Rainbow Lake, just mind-boggling.
The Dickens Trail offers hiking at its best, and Betsy Knob is wonderful and can be spotted from here.
